Catherine Kintner, music instructor at Beaverton Rural Schools earned a BME with a performance minor on the saxophone from Central Michigan University in 1984.   She has also studied music education, vocal technique and conducting at Western Michigan University and Central Michigan University. 

 Mrs. Kintner is in her 36th year of teaching, all at  Beaverton Rural Schools.  She has been honored as "Director of the Year" by MSBOA  District IX twice.   Mrs. Kintner was inducted into the Beaverton Athletic Hall of Fame in Februrary of 2014.

She teaches 7/8 grade music appreciation,  7th grade band, 8th grade band, jshs choir, high school band, and color guard.  Three of her four groups perform at district festivals yearly sponsored by MSBOA (Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association) and MSVMA (Michigan School Vocal Music Association).  

Mrs. Kintner has served as a member of the executive board for MSBOA District IX 34 of her 35 years in the following capacities:  Secretary, V.P. of Solo & Ensemble, V.P. of All-Star Band, Treasurer, President, FIC, Music Ed, Member Emeritus and festival host.  She currently serves as Member Emeritus Chair for MSBOA and continues to host Solo & Ensemble Festivals for both associations. 

She has also served her school as Student Government Advisor (5 years), Junior Class Advisor (7 years), Color Guard Coach (15 years), JV and Varsity Cheerleading Coach (12 years) and MS Cheerleading Coach (8 years).

Mrs. Kintner volunteered for six years with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Gladwin County.  She served as Co-Chair for 2 years and Chair for 3 years concentrating on sponsorship, fundraising and entertainment at the 24 hour event. 

In her spare time, Cathy has performed with the Bay Concert Bay (Bay City), the Gateway Community Band (Clare), plays piano/sings for Wedding ceremonies in the area, works in her perennial garden and can’t wait to spend more time with her family at the cottage on Higgins Lake.

She and her husband Dan have been married for 16 years and have 4 children - Cory (Dawn), Molly (Dustin), Joe (Alyssa) and Nate AND 4 grand children (one more on the way).
